Work Lunch Ideas

I like the idea of brining my lunch to work. In the past Drew and I have tried making lunch two days a week (he makes lunch for both of us one day then I the next) but we have a hard time finding the motivation to spend the precious time we have at home together making lunches. Recently I have been keeping bread and PB and J around at work so I can make sandwiches on my lunch break. This is nice because it gives me something to do during lunch, but PB and J's get old pretty quick. Here are some things that keep well and would be good to bring to work. Hopefully I will get around to making them the night before!

Main Dishes:
Chilled Pasta with pesto Sauce and cherry tomatoes.
Tasty bread (like zucchini) with cream cheese.
Tomato and mozzarella sandwich (on tasty bread).
Bean soup.
Rice mixed with beef.

Side Dishes:
Cheese and crackers.
Yogurt or cottage cheese.
Baked Tortilla Chips.
Pitas.
Tea breads smeared w/ cream cheese
A fruit - apple, banana, pear, grapes, strawberries.
Vegetables- carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes.

Why I am an HSSV Volunteer?

I decided to volunteer at the Humaine Society of Santa Clara. I haven't done any actual volunteering yet because I am still in training. While filling out my personal infomation I was asked "Why do you volunteer?" I wanted to share what I wrote with you:
I am a volunteer because animals will devote their lives to us unconditionally when they are given the proper care, and sometimes they don’t even demand that. I can’t imagine my life without the animals that have been a part of it, as a child and as an adult. All those animals that have been dedicated to my cause, whether it be climbing a tall mountain, protecting me from danger or fetching me that ball over, and over, and over again. Animals deserve to be given a place in our cities and in our lives because we take so much from them by building our homes, our businesses and our roadways. I want to help build a well balanced environment where all our animals can be healthy and cared for, wild and domestic alike.

Web Redesign

I started redesigning my web site at the end of last year and I now feel like its good enough to “launch”. The design is really simple, although I liked how original my comic strip design was last time the new site is much more dynamic. Enjoy. www.mightymouse.org

Wonderful rainy days.

First rain of the season. It started last night (the 21st) and it's not a particularly light rain either. We had planned to attend a BBQ today at Stanford. Maybe that wont happen now.

We're Engaged

Andrew and I are engaged. We had actually been talking about it since February. He has never really liked the social pressure society puts on people to marry so I was pretty surprised when he brought it up. Well, in February he asked what my thoughts were about marriage and things like that. I told him that if he asked me to marry him I would say yes without a doubt, but that if he wasn't ready that was fine too, because I really enjoy just being with him. He thought about it long and hard I guess because in July he asked me to marry him, but we decided that we didn't want to tell anyone until I had a ring. When I got back from my backpacking trip on Tuesday (8/21/07) he bought me dinner, had brownies made and brought out champagne and the ring. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and put the ring on my finger. And that's it!

Annual Flinstones backpacking trip

Annual Flintstones backpacking pictures are up. This year it was just Randy, Greg, Sadie and I. We didn't see a single cloud in the sky, the weather was perfect but the water was very low. Also, I hiked up Hells Mountain with Sadie this year while Greg and Randy stayed behind, in fact these pictures were posted while they are still out there. All in all it was a calm trip. Check out the pictures.
